Bungku,(1/9) - The Morowali Regency Statistics Office recorded a year-on-year (y-on-y) inflation rate of 5.69 percent in August 2025, with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) reaching 111.91. Meanwhile, month-to-month (m-to-m) inflation stood at 0.06 percent, and year-to-date (y-to-d) inflation at 3.87 percent.

Year-on-Year (y-on-y) Inflation

The y-on-y inflation was mainly driven by price increases in several expenditure groups, particularly: - Food, beverages, and tobacco: 13.39 percent inflation, contributing 5.27 percent. - Housing, water, electricity, and household fuels: 2.28 percent inflation, contributing 0.33 percent. - Personal care and other services: 1.78 percent inflation, contributing 0.10 percent. - Clothing and footwear: 0.97 percent inflation, contributing 0.07 percent. - Food and beverage provision/restaurants: 0.38 percent inflation, contributing 0.02 percent. Expenditure groups experiencing deflation included: - Transportation: 1.03 percent deflation, contributing 0.10 percent. - Furnishings, household equipment, and routine household maintenance: 0.06 percent deflation. Major commodities contributing to y-on-y inflation were rice, shallots, skipjack fish/scaled fish, short-bodied mackerel/Indian mackerel/banyar fish/gembolo fish/aso-aso fish, tomatoes, house rent, katamba fish, ground coffee, cucumber, tuna/ambu-ambu fish, machine-made kretek cigarettes, gold jewelry, cooking oil, garlic, and chicken eggs. Meanwhile, key commodities contributing to y-on-y deflation were bird’s eye chili, water spinach, gasoline, long beans, fabric softener/laundry fragrance, cement, mustard greens, and potatoes.

Inflation In August 2025, Morowali Regency recorded an m-to-m inflation rate of 0.06 percent. The food, beverages, and tobacco group experienced 0.22 percent inflation, contributing 0.09 percent. In contrast, the transportation group recorded 0.35 percent deflation, contributing 0.03 percent. Major commodities contributing to m-to-m inflation were rice, shallots, short-bodied mackerel/Indian mackerel/banyar fish/gembolo fish/aso-aso fish, skipjack fish/scaled fish, cucumber, eggplant, tuna/ambu-ambu fish, red snapper, katamba fish, and scad/tude fish. Meanwhile, key commodities contributing to m-to-m deflation were tomatoes, bird’s eye chili, garlic, gasoline, red chili, broiler chicken meat, and carrots.
